Mansfield Rotary Club’s community-minded Just Bin It! campaign to improve the area has received further support from Portland College.
Its Portland Day Services gardening group, featured in the News Journal last month, has again been into Mansfield to pick litter.
The group said it aimed to go litter picking in the Mansfield district every week as part of the Rotary campaign.
Group members Matthew, Ryan, Ellie, and Ryan cleared litter along Nottingham Road, Mansfield, and then moved on to Titchfield Park.
It was a very productive day and the group collected 2 large bags of litter in total.
The college said: “Another fantastic effort – well done team!”
Just Bin It! has been running for a year and so far Mansfield Rotary Club has been supported by hundreds of volunteers.
Rotarians are providing litter-pick tools free to anyone who will pick up litter around their neighbourhood, roadsides, pavements, parks and schools.
Well over 320 people have been given litter-pick tools by the club so far.
The project has been so successful that Warsop and Shirebrook; Kirkby; and Sutton Rotary Clubs are to set up similar schemes.
Anyone interested in joining the Just Bin It! campaign is asked to register on Mansfield Rotary’s website — https://mansfieldrotary.co.uk/mansfields-big-clean — or call 01623 706540 and leave a message.
