Police hand out treats to children

Posted onPosted on 23rd Jun

Youngsters in Mansfield have received some treats thanks to Nottinghamshire Police.

The force’s Citizens in Policing Department has been delivering delicious treats to vulnerable kids.

They gave out crisps, sweets, juice drinks and cereal bars that were donated by Wilkos and Greggs.

The force said it continues to work to support and engage with young people and the community during lockdown.

The scheme is a police-led initiative to engage and support young people between the ages of 10–18 who are either vulnerable, socially excluded or involved in crime.

Youth outreach worker Romel Davis said: “Whilst there are so many young people and their families at home, we thought it would be fitting to deliver the treats.

“It also gives us the opportunity to check in on some of our most vulnerable children during these difficult times and bring smiles to their faces.

“It is so important that we continue to keep in contact with our young people and communities, support them and remain visible during this pandemic.

“We just have to be creative and do things differently as we move through this crisis.

“We’d like to thank both Wilkos and Greggs for their continued support. We’ve managed to cover a large area across the county, including Mansfield. Without their donations, this wouldn’t have been possible.”
