Staff at Mansfield opticians Pinders have raised £1,584.50 for APTCOO (A Place To Call Our Own), the charity it is supporting this year.
They took part in a 5k inflatable obstacle run at Colwick Racecourse, Nottingham, and collected money at a tombola at Warsop Carnival.
Staff at the Queen Street practice in Mansfield decided to join the obstacle race after looking for an interesting way to raise money for the Mansfield-based charity.
Optometrist Hannah Shooter, a triathlon champion, offered coaching sessions for the staff, who had an average age of 47, a dislike of heights and no athletic ability.
Six members of staff – Joanne, Martine, Jackie, Allyson, Jo and Derra – were joined by family and friends for a team of 12 for the race, with finishing times ranging from 27 to 90 minutes.
A spokesman said: “We thank our families, work colleagues, friends and patients who sponsored and supported us, helping to raise a fantastic £1,267.”
A total of £317.50 was raised at Warsop Carnival.
