Pinders marks 70th anniversary

To celebrate its 70th anniversary, Mansfield-based opticians Pinders is running a series of charity events — and special promotions for customers.

In 1946 Richard Pinder started the business at Queen Street, Mansfield, and today has five branches in Mansfield, Southwell, Ollerton and Warsop with Geoff Rybicki now its owner.

It will be backing the charity, Fight For Sight, during the year, as well as running events and promotions on its Facebook page and website.

The first promotion on Facebook in February is giving people who like its page the chance to win a new pair of glasses for the price they would have paid in 1946.

Fight for Sight is the largest charity in the UK that funds research into the prevention of sight loss and eye disease.

In the last three years it has provided £10.3m funding towards sight-saving research, despite not receiving government funding.

Pinders customers have been invited to make small donations in one of its in-branch collection tins as well as back its charity fundraising events in 2016.
