One of its latest trips took a lorry far up into the Scottish Highlands.

Managing director Alan Taylor said: “With 10 drops, starting out from our Huthwaite depot, we did a round trip of around 1,340 miles to the Isle of Mull, taking in the sights of Edinburgh, Queensferry Bridge, St Andrews and the coast to Aberdeen, into the highlands at Scourie, following Loch Ness to the Isle of Mull and then back to base again in Nottinghamshire.

“Eighty-nine percent of the things we buy or use have been transported by road and handled by a series of hardworking people along the way. That’s a huge amount – from the producer to the driver, the warehouse operative to the transport manager, and many others in between.

“The road transport industry works incredibly hard every single day, to ensure our shops, factories, hospitals, schools and homes have everything they need.”
