A former newsagents on Main Street in Farnsfield has undergone a major refurbishment to become a new upmarket furniture store.
Cathy Robinson, owner of Restoration Red, which has been trading online, said the move has created a lot of positive interest.
“I’ve been wanting to open a real shop for years but just couldn’t find the right location,” she said.
“When I discovered that the old newsagents was up for grabs I was in like a shot.
“The village has a really good feel and there’s a solid retail offering, which is quite rare.
“I up-cycle quality furniture that isn’t in fashion and give it a new lease of life — and hope people understand what I am trying to achieve.
“I’ve had such a great response from residents and the business community in the village and hope to be part of the future landscape as the village reaches its full potential.”
Stuart Dennis, a local resident, said it was great to see the shop back in use and contributing to the village.
