New trees to be planted at roadsides

Posted onPosted on 6th Jan

A pipeline of new trees and urban greening across Mansfield, Mansfield Woodhouse, Warsop Vale, Church Warsop nd Meden Vale has been welcomed by MP Ben Bradley.

He said he was pleased the area was benefiting from the Local Authority Treescapes Fund (LATF) with various sites identified for the planting of new highway trees.

The fund is aimed at establishing more trees in non-woodlands settings such as in riverbanks, hedgerows, parklands, urban areas, and beside roads and footpaths.

The local locations were selected as non-wooded areas with a focus on those most likely to provide the greatest benefits to ecosystems and society by connecting people with nature and linking habitats of nearby forest/woodland and greenspaces.

The highway routes will also improve green corridors and have a positive effect on air pollution.

“I’m pleased to see that the Treescapes Fund is ensuring that we’re getting a pipeline of new trees and urban greening across Mansfield and Warsop,” the MP said.

“These urban trees are really important for local ecosystems, for flood alleviation, and connecting up pollinator habitats. An added bonus is that they also look a lot nicer than concrete.

“There’s loads of local tree planting being brought forward by Nottinghamshire County Council and I am sure residents across the county will welcome this.”
