New Discover Ashfield road signs have been installed and unveiled at gateways across the district.

The Discover Ashfield brand has been developed in a bid to promote Ashfield in a positive manner, increase pride and aspirations within the community, improve the vibrancy of town centres, encourage and promote inward investment, and support tourism and the visitor economy in the area.

An ambassador programme was also set up. It is recruiting ambassadors, including business, visitor and community leaders, who actively promote Ashfield.

Three of the Discover Ashfield ambassadors (right) — Martin Rigley, owner of Lindhurst Engineering and chairman of the Discover Ashfield board; Coun Jason Zadrozny, leader of Ashfield District Council; and Theresa Hodgkinson, director of place and communities — unveiled a new sign on Beck Lane, Skegby.

Coun Zadrozny said: “We are pushing to put Ashfield on the map and it’s the details like this that have a big impact.

“The new additions to the gateway signs around the district will help to give Ashfield a recognisable identity, no matter which way you enter the district.

“We are thrilled with the new signs, they have an incredible visual impact.

“We hope that they raise awareness of the Discover Ashfield brand within the district.”

The gateway sign on Beck Lane has joined 10 others in the district that now display the Discover Ashfield branding.

There are also plans to improve various other gateway signs across the district and more illustrative signs will be installed.
