New look for pub

One of Ashfield’s Sizzling pubs, the Woodend at Huthwaite, is pledging to lend a helping hand to local charities throughout the year — and is calling for people in the community to nominate worthy causes to receive support.

The pub, which was recently converted from a Crown Carvery to a Sizzling Pizza & Carvery, will be donating to two nominated local charities, along with Cancer Research UK, which has been chosen as the chain’s charity of the year.

The two local charities receiving donations are the Emily Harris Foundation and the John Eastwood Hospice. Customers visiting the Woodend will be given a token with their meal to put into a jar in support of their preferred charity.

The pub is also looking for customers to nominate the next two charities to receive support by putting their nominations in the pub’s voting box. .

General manager Chris Vose said: “The pub has been given a fantastic new look and menu encompassing pub favourites plus flavours from around the globe.

“We’re thrilled to be able to give back to the community by supporting two charities.”
Following the conversion, the Woodend, on Chesterfield Road, has created eight new jobs.
