Teenagers on a National Citizen Service (NCS) course are raising money for a Mansfield-based charity through two sponsored events.
The young people, based at Portland College, Mansfield, are supporting APTCOO (A Place To Call Our Own), which provides information, advice and access to a personalised range of specialist health, care and education support services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families.
The team said: “We chose APTCOO to help as we feel what they do is helping change people’s lives. We have a target of £500 through both events, which will be used towards any equipment they should need.”
The fundraising begins on Friday, 11th August with a car wash at Portland College, from 10am to 4pm.
On Monday, 14th August, they will be doing a sponsored 24-hour marathon on a treadmill, hoping to cover 192 miles – the distance of London to York, seven times the London Marathon.
The teenagers will take turns on a treadmill throughout the day and night to achieve the distance within 24 hours.
