National role for consultant

A consultant who works for the trust that runs King’s Mill and Mansfield Community hospitals has been appointed president of the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH).

Dr Elizabeth Carlin (pictured ) is a consultant in genitourinary medicine at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (SFHFT) and the service director of sexual health services in Mid Nottinghamshire.

Sean Lyons, chairman of SFHFT, said: “We are delighted that Dr Carlin has been appointed by her peers to such an important role.

“Elizabeth is recognised as one of the most passionate, knowledgeable and innovative doctors in her field.

“She is leading the delivery of a new integrated sexual health service in Nottinghamshire and the trust is very proud that she will also be taking a leading role in her profession nationwide.”

Dr Carlin, who was previously vice-president of BASHH and will serve as president until 2018, said: “I am determined to communicate and safeguard the unique and essential role that sexual health services provide for all society.”
