Mill Waters volunteers have received the national Volunteer Team of the Year award in the Keep Britain Tidy, Green Flag Award 2023.

They take part in a range of activities at King’s Mill Reservoir, Sutton; Sutton Lawn; and Hermitage Ponds.

The award will take pride of place at Mill Waters café at the reservoir.

Ashfield District Council chairman Coun Dale Grounds and leader Coun Jason Zadrozny visited the group (above) to thank them for their dedication and to present the award.

Dale said: “It’s great to meet and have the chance to say thank you to some of the people who volunteer selflessly to make Ashfield a better place to live.

“We could all take a leaf out their book, no pun intended. It’s efforts like this that make a big difference in Ashfield.”
