Music fundraiser JackieFest supports British Heart Foundation

Posted onPosted on 5th Jan

A music festival raised £2,000 for charity in memory of a Warsop woman, writes Rob Roe.

JackieFest at The Black Market Venue in the town featured six bands, creating an unforgettable night of music and generosity from the local community.

It was a tribute to Jackie Harrison, the mother of the venue’s Dave Drury.

Jackie was a lifelong supporter of the British Heart Foundation and proceeds from the fundraising event will be presented to the charity.

Thanks to the generosity of Jackie’s husband, Charles Harrison, who funded the bands’ performances, the night featured live sets from The Curfew, Star Botherers, The Meden Blazers, Newton’s Cradle, and The Hugo Steady Band.

Attendees dug deep for a donation bucket, helping to raise an initial £733.46. The bands donated their earnings back to the charity, bringing the total raised on the night to £1,733.46.

In a final act of generosity, The Black Market Venue rounded up the amount to £2,000.

The venue and the bands thanked everyone who attended and contributed, acknowledging the kindness and generosity that made the evening such a success.

Special thanks went to Charles, Dave, Colleen Drury and Siobhan Sorrell for their dedication to honouring Jackie’s legacy.
