MP Lee Anderson joins Great British Spring Clean

Posted onPosted on 28th May

Lee Anderson, MP for Eastwood, has pledged his support for the Great British Spring Clean 2021, which runs from 28th May until 13th June.

This is the sixth annual environmental campaign Keep Britain Tidy has arranged. In 2019, more than half a million volunteers signed up to the event and collected nearly a million bags of litter as businesses, schools, neighbours and community groups all joined in to clear up their neighbourhoods.

Lee said he was keen to get involved having recently set up weekly litter picks in his constituency, and is currently touring the constituency with his litter-picking kit.

The MP has pledged to litter pick for at least 24 hours during the campaign and will continue with his weekly litter picks afterwards. He is looking for volunteers to join him tidy up their neighbourhoods.

“Each week I will be out cleaning up litter. If you want to help me when I come to your area, please email me at [email protected],” he said.

“There is more litter on our streets and parks than ever before but together we can improve things – even if we have to do it one street or one park at a time. If you feel the same way, please join me.”

His ‘Great British Spring Clean’ will involve a big clean-up of the New Cross area in Sutton town centre and Lee has also recently litter picked in Huthwaite and Stanton Hill.
