Singing teacher Amy Beilby has been crowned Miss Mansfield and Sherwood Forest.

The 21-year-old, from Mansfield, emerged triumphant at a ceremony at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex, Sookholme.

The former Brunts Academy, Mansfield, student will use her year to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and be an ambassador for the district.
Amy, who succeeded Jessica Boot, won an all-expenses-paid trip to Mansfield, Ohio, USA, and a gym membership with Mansfield Leisure Trust.

First runner-up in the pageant was Lucy Bevan (19), of Mansfield, and second runner-up was 17-year-old Shelby White, of Worksop.

The competition took place over three weeks after two months of rehearsing by 12 finalists.

Other finalists were Shelley Egginton (18), of Mansfield; Georgia Staniland (20), of Mansfield Woodhouse; Samantha Hart (17), of Mansfield Woodhouse; Amy Land (17), of Mansfield; Rhianna Hook (19), of Mansfield; Evie Bevan (17), of Old Blidworth; Alicia Levy (18), of Mansfield; and Kirsty Kirkland (20), of Mansfield.

This year’s event included several other awards sections, including Miss Fitness, Miss Photographic, Miss Congeniality, Talent Award, Voiceover Award, Ecodress Outfit, Style Queen, Stunning Hair and More Than Beauty.

Amy Beilby also won the photography and talent awards.

Judges included Rachel French, owner of Ten Green Bottles coffee lounge; UKIP General Election candidate Sid Pepper; the president of Mansfield Rotary Club,

Philip Richmond; Catherine Bull, chairman of Debdale Park Sports and Recreation Club; and Miss Mansfield 2013, Grace Turner.

Organiser and former winner Tricia Mapletoft said: “This was by far the best competition yet — all the girls were amazing.

“The contest was of a high standard and every one of them showed they were gifted and talented — it’s not just about looks.”
