Media star at leavers’ assembly

Television and radio personality Richard Bacon returned to his former Mansfield primary school to take part in the annual Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly.

Richard, who lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children, was in the UK during August, when he presented TV show Good Morning Britain.

Richard attended St Peter’s Church of England Primary Academy, together with his sisters, Helena and Juliet, and his mother, Christine, is now chair of governors.

At the assembly, where all leavers were presented with a Bible, Richard addressed the youngsters and parents.

After the event, he said: “That was one of the most interesting afternoons I have had in a long time, meeting James Marshall, the head teacher, staff and Year 6 pupils on their last day at my first school.

“St Peter’s gave me the confidence and the grounding to go on and have the adventures I am now having in television, in Britain and America.

“I am enthusiastic for all those Year 6 pupils that I met — and the future that lies ahead of them will be in no small part because they went to this special school.”
