A brother and sister from Croft Primary School, Sutton, received a surprise gift of being mascots at Mansfield Town FC from Teachers UK.
Thomas (7) and Daisy (6) Fisher were nominated by their school and received the prize from club mascot Sammy The Stag at a school assembly, watched by their mum, Carla.
Louise Hamby, of Teachers UK, an education recruitment specialist based at Mansfield’s I-Centre on Hamilton Way, said: “We believe in putting something back into the community. We operate on a national scale now, but we started in Mansfield in 1997.”
Football fan Thomas said: “I have been to Stags quite a lot. My dad (Matt) was as excited as me.”
Headteacher Lizzie Blount said: “This prize couldn’t have gone to two children who deserved it more. They are both what we call ‘always children’ — they can always be relied upon to do all we ask and expect of them.
“They strive for excellence in everything they do, demonstrate good friendship skills and are a delight to be with.”
