Yeoman Park Academy in Mansfield Woodhouse has been shortlisted for two accolades at the Autism Professional Awards.
Sharon Savage, who has worked at Yeoman Park for 32 years, has been shortlisted in the Achievement an Individual Education Professional category, for her exceptional work in supporting students in The Base at the academy, ensuring they get access to education and opportunities.
The school, which is part of the Diverse Academies Trust, said the brilliant work of the team in The Base had also led to them being shortlisted for the Inspirational Education Provision – secondary and further award.
The team are highly skilled in managing behaviour in a low stimulus environment, striving to get the very best outcomes for all students.
Sharon said: “I am incredibly humbled to have been nominated and subsequently shortlisted. The team in The Base are very supportive of all students and of me — we are very passionate about our jobs and the work that we do for our students, so to be recognised for this work is a great honour.”
The awards ceremony, run by the National Autistic Society, was due be held on 27th February 2020 in Birmingham.
