Mansfield prepares to Clean For The Queen

Mansfield District Council is backing the national Clean For The Queen project and is seeking the public’s support for the biggest ever clean-up of the country, which will be taking place from 4 to 6 March.

In addition to the council’s annual International Clean Up Mansfield Day, which takes place on Friday 10 June, the authority is encouraging schools, community groups, businesses and volunteers to get involved in this national campaign to clean up our country in preparation for the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The clean-up can include anything from a litter pick of a local park to sprucing up a building’s façade. All you need is community spirit and some elbow grease!

Clean For The Queen Campaign Director Adrian Evans said: “We aim to inspire people to take action and enjoy a few hours together litter-picking to make our country more beautiful.

“For Her Majesty and for us all, we want to attack the blight of litter and reclaim our beautiful countryside, our fabulous cities, our world-class parks, our wonderful beaches and waterways.”

Mansfield District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Cllr Andrew Tristram, said: “This is a great opportunity to work together with our communities and to make a difference to our district. It’s also a way to show thanks to our Queen for all the work she has done for our country in this, her 90th year.”
