Mansfield Building Society steps out for Macmillan

Posted onPosted on 9th Jun

Six members of staff from the Mansfield Building Society are swapping office shoes for walking boots on Friday, 16th June, as they walk from its branch on New Square, Chesterfield, to its Mansfield branch in aid of the society’s charity partner Macmillan.

Picking up branches in Sutton and Kirkby along the way, staff are aiming to complete the challenge during the working day – starting at 9am and finishing before 5pm. Covering almost 20 miles, the team will walk through Hasland, taking up the Five Pits Trail and following cycle paths on their way to the Sutton and Kirkby branches before heading on to Mansfield.

Craig Brannen, business analyst at the society, who helped organise the event said: “It’s been amazing how staff have been committed to supporting Macmillan. All the funds we raise go directly to supporting those people living with cancer in Chesterfield, Ashfield and Mansfield. People can contribute via any one of our branches or stop us if they see us en route on the day to donate.

“The society is already well on track to meeting our fundraising target for Macmillan this year. Staff have completed charity quiz nights, climbed Snowdon and held a variety of fundraising activities at our branches. This walk is a chance for a group of us to come together and do what we can to help Macmillan continue their great work to help those living with cancer in our local community.”
