New mums can take their babies to a new six-week fitness programme, which starts next month.
The Mummies and Buggies sessions at River Maun Recreation Centre, Barringer Road, Mansfield, start on Monday, 2nd June from 10am-11am.
They are aimed at mums with babies aged six weeks to 18 months. Each session costs £1.50 on a pay-as-you-go basis.
The classes can help mums to regain their pre-pregnancy fitness, strengthen their pelvic floor, reduce stress levels and meet other new mums and their babies.
Classes include basic cardio moves using your pushchair, mat-based Pilates exercises, toning and stretching.
Coun Philip Shields, portfolio holder for the environment at Mansfield District Council, said: “As a new parent it can be difficult to find the time to exercise so these new fitness sessions are an ideal way to increase your activity levels without the need and added cost of childcare.
“It is also a great way to meet other mums and babies of a similar age from the local area.”
Mats are provided but participants should take their baby in a pushchair, and bring a towel, drink and a few soft toys for their baby. Dads are welcome.
To book your place, contact Nicola Parker, health development officer at Mansfield District Council, on 01623 463 470.
Places are limited and due to the nature of the funding received from Sportivate, priority will be given to those aged under 25.
