Litter-picking linked with Duke of Edinburgh Award work

Posted onPosted on 1st Jul

Mansfield teenager Heath Lennox has joined the Mansfield Rotary Club litter-picking project Just Bin It as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award work.

Heath, 14, a student at Queen Elizabeth Academy, Mansfield, is aiming to complete the award with CARGO Explorer Scout Unit.

He is being supported in the litter-picking by Annmarie Cordon, pictured, who has regularly been clearing rubbish in the Clipstone area.

Heath has been helping clear litter around the Avenues in Clipstone since the beginning of June.

He is hoping to do one day a week until September, when he will have completed his required three months of community work towards the Duke Of Edinburgh Bronze Award.

More than 300 people are now regularly taking part in the Rotary Club campaign to clean-up the town and surrounding area.

Rotarians are providing litter-pick tools free to anyone who will pick up litter around their neighbourhood, roadsides, pavements, parks and schools.
