Inspire Libraries has been awarded £6,000 to run a groundbreaking initiative at Kirkby Library that aims to reconnect communities with nature, enhance mental wellbeing, and support the recovery of green spaces in urban areas.
Places to Connect will run at 26 libraries nationwide after the grant from Natural England and Libraries Connected.
It will offer people an opportunity to rediscover nature and experience the mental health benefits of environmental activities through their local library.
Peter Gaw, Inspire chief executive, said: “We’re giving library customers the chance to engage with nature in a meaningful way, whether that’s by exploring their local environment with an expert or simply enjoying a peaceful moment in our community gardens.”
