Learning about Royal British Legion

Posted onPosted on 19th Jun

Neil Davidson, chairman of the Clipstone and Forest Town branch of the Royal British Legion, gave a talk about the history of the legion from its onset in 1921 to the present day, at Forest Town Welcome Group’s June meeting.

Pauline Marples, of the Welcome Group, said: “We learned there is a lot more to the RBL than just going on parades, such as helping members and their families in times of need.

“We discovered that the National Memorial Arboretum, near Lichfield, is there because of the legion — and that it is worth visiting.

“Neil told us that anyone can apply to join the RBL, not just ex-Servicemen. It was an excellent afternoon.”
