Academy Transformation Trust Further Education at Sutton Community Academy hosted a visit by MP Tim Farron, president of the Liberal Democrats and the party’s spokesperson for foreign and Commonwealth affairs.

He went into several further education classes and spoke at length with students about their learning and current issues in further education.

Mr Farron, pictured third right, then met director Simon Martin, deputy director of further education Liz Barrett and the principal at the academy, Tim Croft, for a longer discussion about the future of the sector.

Mr Farron said he was impressed by the scale and quality of the adult learning opportunities offered by the trust. He promised to return and bring other senior colleagues to see the work of the trust.​
