The successful junior section of Farnsfield Cricket Club celebrated at a presentation evening at the club’s Station Lane clubhouse.
Batting awards went to Logan Yarnell, Jack Rogers and Will Marshall, bowling awards to Rory Hales, Oliver Bottomore and Alex Patel, and fielding awards to George Chalkley, Henry Townsend and Jack Rogers.
A commendation was given to the under-15 team, which won the Mansfield and District Youth League Cup in the summer.
Older members of the team are now looking forward to playing in the newly-formed under-19 team, competing in the Nottinghamshire Youth under-19s Development League.
Any 16 to 18 year-old cricketers interested in joining the new team should contact [email protected]
Five members of the under-15 squad attended a Young Volunteers Course at Trent Bridge, organised by Nottinghamshire County Cricket in conjunction with the ECB.
Proceeds from the annual club fireworks event will aid the junior cricket programme delivered by the club.
The club’s women’s and girls, and junior sections started winter training in November at The Samworth Church Academy, Mansfield.
The women’s team, under a new coach, are preparing for a new campaign in the Nottinghamshire Indoor Cricket Softball League where two teams have been entered thanks to the section’s expansion.
New players of any age or ability are welcome, particularly girls aged 11 to 16.
At the end of November, a quiz night was organised by members of the women’s section, the latest in a series of fundraising events the club is holding to help plans to extend the clubhouse at Station Lane. The development will incorporate changing facilities for women and juniors, and extend a meeting area, which is also used by the community.
The club is appealing for businesses, community members, and cricket enthusiasts to contribute to the expansion project. For information on how to help, contact Clint Walker on 07860 907671 or email [email protected]
