Jessica Boot (18), a former Brunts Academy, Mansfield, student, is the new Miss Mansfield and Sherwood Forest.

She pipped first runner-up Leyana Akbani and second runner-up Chelsea Phillips to the prestigious title (pictured) in its 40th year.

Jessica was crowned during a glittering event featuring 12 finalists at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex, Sookholme.

She is taking a gap year before going to university to study music. Jessica is an accomplished singer songwriter and plays the guitar and piano.

Her chosen charity for her reign is Woman Kind, which helps women in the Third World with education, health and social, care and women’s rights.
