Invitation to cyberchondria event

Posted onPosted on 16th Oct

Cyberchondria is a growing concern among many healthcare practitioners as patients can now research any and all symptoms of a rare disease, illness or condition, and manifest a state of medical anxiety.

An evening event open to the public will be taking place on Thursday 29 October to enable people to learn more about cyberchondria and the different treatments and interventions available.

Helen Tyrer, Senior Clinical Research Fellow, said: “There is a hidden epidemic invading the National Health Service. It causes much distress, and costs hours of time and hundreds of unnecessary appointments. It is called cyberchondria and we can treat it – now.”

The event takes place on Thursday 29 October 2015 from 6-8pm in Lecture Theatre 2 at the King’s Mill Conference Centre, King’s Mill Hospital.

To book a place please contact the membership office on 01623 622515 extension 3575 or email [email protected]. Tea/coffee will be provided from 5.30pm onwards.
