Inter-galactic charity mission with Lego bricks

Mansfield-based Pinders Opticians is aiming to build one of the biggest Lego sets ever made on Wednesday, 30th May.

The 12-hour building challenge, from 7am, will attempt to create a Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon, containing over 7,500 pieces, to raise money for the charity Reach.

Pinders is calling for Lego and Star Wars fans to help the practice team build the set at the Pinders Southwell branch on Queen Street.

Members of the public who wish to get involved with the challenge can book 15-minute building slots at a cost of £5 per slot during the day.

All funds raised by the practice will go to Reach to help it support people with learning difficulties in Nottinghamshire.

Building slots can be booked by calling the practice on 01636 812286.

Pinders will be live streaming the Millennium Falcon build throughout the day on its Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pindersopticians

The practice has also set up a JustGiving page for anyone who would like to donate to Reach but cannot attend the event, go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/legobuildchallenge.

“We are very excited to be building one of the biggest Lego sets ever made and raising money for a great local charity too,” said Peter Herniman, director at Pinders Opticians.

“We are very grateful to Pinders for their support this year,” said Sarah Cobb, from Reach. “This challenge sounds very exciting and different to anything we have been involved in before.”

Pinders Opticians has branches in Mansfield, New Ollerton, Southwell and Warsop.
