A Mansfield teenager called an inspiration for her charity work has been named a national star.

Chloe Atlas, (15), was presented with The Children’s Society national Star Award to recognise her commitment to the charity’s work with vulnerable teenagers who experience abuse, neglect and poverty.

The award ceremony at the charity’s annual Over The Rainbow event, held at Burnley Football Club, recognised the exceptional achievements, resilience and determination of children and young people involved with the cause.

Chloe has overcome personal difficulties and helped raise awareness of issues affecting young people, while helping protect the lives of children.

The teenager has worked with Dean Barr at The Children’s Society’s Safe Choices project, where she received support to use her experiences in a positive way and transform her life to be positive and safer.

Dean said: “Chloe is a talented artist and has used art, music and writing to express her thoughts and feelings.
“Through her bravery, willingness to learn, and putting learning into practice, she has helped safeguard others and is a true an inspiration to us all.”

Chloe said: “I was shocked to win an award and hadn’t expected it at all. The Children’s Society has done amazing things to help me and it is great how much progress I have made.

“The support has improved my confidence so much and helped me to concentrate on school. I’m now happy with my life and my dad is so proud of me.”
