Inspectors recognise academy’s improvements

Posted onPosted on 7th Jul

Ofsted inspectors have praised The Bramble Academy for significant strides forward made since its last rating — and bringing stability.

The Mansfield Woodhouse school was told it required improvement in 2021.

But since joining Greenwood Academies Trust in December 2022, it has made significant improvements, according to Oftsed after a recent monitoring visit.

Inspectors highlighted that the academy is setting high expectations for what all pupils could achieve, including making reading a top priority by investing in two new libraries for the academy.

It is also strengthening its SEND curriculum, which is having a positive impact on the provision for pupils.

Leaders and staff at the academy are also working to improve safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure pupils’ health, safety and wellbeing are adequately supported.

Additionally, inspectors noted: “The trust has brought much needed stability.

“Leaders are now receiving high-quality support and challenge needed to bring about rapid change.”

Support from the trust is recognised as being effective, with staff welcoming the changes, trusting they will receive support when needed, as well as reporting they feel listened to and are proud to work at the school.

The academy is working to build on wider improvement plans that have been shared these with parents and carers. These include further developing a progressive curriculum, installing a new outdoor area, and implementing a robust reading programme.

Panayiota Theodosiou, academy principal, said: “Since I joined the team at The Bramble Academy, it has been my mission to drive forward positive, tangible change for all our wonderful pupils and colleagues.

“I am proud to see the progress we have already made is being recognised and I am committed to continue to build on our great improvements.

“I’d like to also thank Greenwood Academies Trust for all the support implementing and improving best practices in the academy, and thanks to our network of parents, carers, and community members who have been there every step of the way.”

Wayne Norrie, trust chief executive, added: “Pupils, families, and colleagues at the academy deserve the best-possible educational experience.

“We are committed to continuing our efforts that will make this a reality.

“This report is only the beginning of the great journey of improvement across the academy.”
