Members of Kirkby Inner Wheel have been very active in the community.

Freda Smith and Judi Parkinson packed baby bag bundles, which have been sent to Africa via the National Police Aid Charity.

Inner Wheel elves helped Santa Claus to give out presents at Reuben Shaw’s Garden Centre, Newthorpe.

Members also hosted several fundraising coffee mornings and a Christmas lunch.

At the December meeting, new member Becky Stanbridge was welcomed by chairman Sita Singh Tunstall and district chairman Elaine Hopkins — and she quickly realised that Kirkby Inner Wheel ladies like to have fun by wearing an elf costume on her first visit.

In November members sold a large quantity of cakes to customers at The Bowman pub, Hucknall, to raise money for charity. Cakes were donated by Inner Wheel members and the pub’s manager. A substantial amount was raised, which will be donated to charity.
