Idlewells Shopping Centre, Sutton, is handing out 1,000 50p pieces to anyone who claims one (while stocks last) on Saturday, 11th February.

The Give A Little, Say A Lot promotion has been designed to encourage shoppers to use Valentine’s Day to say ‘thank you’ to special people in their lives – and to recognise that February 14th is not just for couples.

The coins will be given out with a message thanking the shopping centre’s visitors for their loyalty and custom, with a hope that the money will be passed on via a similar gesture to someone special in their lives.

To claim the 50p coin, customers are asked to go to the Valentine’s Day sweet cart, situated close to B&M Bargains, and state “Valentine’s Day is not just for couples!”

Explains Chloe O’Donnell, Idlewells Shopping Centre Manager: “Valentine’s Day gives us all the opportunity to show someone how special they are – whatever the relationship.”

Instead of spending money on an activity for our customers, we thought we would show our appreciation of them by helping them to show their appreciation to someone else in turn.

“50p is not much these days, we know, but it could go towards the cost of a phone call, visit, card or gift – which could mean so much to someone.”

Vintage music singer Rose Devine will perform on Café Moda during three sets between 11am and 3pm.
