Housebuilder supports foodbank

Posted onPosted on 1st Oct

Employees at a Mansfield housebuilding company  have donated items to a church foodbank in Ollerton.

Several hampers, together with donated food and drink, were collected by co-workers at the Persimmon Homes Nottingham head office in Mansfield and delivered to the Lifespring Centre on Sherwood Drive.

Over the last 18 months, the community centre has acted as a foodbank, supporting households in the area by providing more than 150,000 meals across Ollerton and Warsop.

Persimmon Homes Nottingham managing director Neil Follows said: “We feel it’s important to support our local community and the Lifespring Centre and Church has provided such a valuable service for people who are struggling in these difficult times.

“We organised a collection of food items in our head office and topped it up with some special hampers for the Lifespring team to distribute.”

Lifespring Centre senior pastor Liz Phillips said: “This has been a very testing time for lots of local people, resulting in a greater demand for our foodbank services.

“During the lockdowns we were fortunate to receive many generous donations but, as normal life has returned for many, there are many others who still need our support. Donations like this from Persimmon Home are always extremely welcome.”
