Hospice consultant nominated for top award

Dr David Miodrag, a palliative medicine consultant at the John Eastwood Hospice, Sutton, has been put forward for a Parliamentary Award in the care and compassion category.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust, which runs the hospice with the John Eastwood Hospice Trust, said he had been put forward for the award because he makes a significant difference, not only to patients in his care but also to the lives of relatives.

Dr Miodrag has worked at the hospice for three years and looks after people with terminal illnesses including cancer and progressive neurological, cardiac and respiratory diseases, helping them to get the best quality of life.

“I feel very honoured and grateful to be nominated for this award,” he said.

“I am privileged to work with an amazing and inspiring team at John Eastwood Hospice and feel a number of my colleagues would be equally deserving of the nomination.”
The winners will be presented with their awards in parliament in July 2021.

Gail, a relative of a former patient, said about David: “David’s dedication, drive, ambition and diverse approach to get the best for his patients was unique.

“He pushed the boundaries to obtain the best treatment he could.

I do feel an overwhelming debt to Dr David Miodrag and thank him for his compassion and respect for his patients.”
