Homes builder backs playground appeal

Posted onPosted on 4th Feb

A Mansfield primary school has been handed a cash boost from a leading regional housebuilder to help fund a new playground.

Intake Farm Primary School and Nursery has been awarded £1,000 as part of the Persimmon Homes Nottingham Community Champions scheme.

The national match-funding initiative seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment for local people.

The school’s PTA group applied for the funds on behalf of the school. The donation from Persimmon Homes will go towards upgrading the outdoor play area, featuring new playground equipment.

Sarah Heeley, from Intake Farm PTFA, said: “We are thrilled to receive such generous donation from Persimmon Homes Nottingham.

“We are currently working hard to reach our fundraising target of £40,000 and welcome donations either big or small to help us refurbish our playground.”

Julian Fieldwick, head teacher at Intake Farm Primary and Nursery School, said: “Our school is in desperate need of improving its outdoor facilities. This project will not only enhance the children’s mental health and improve their well-being, but will also benefit future pupils.

“We are very grateful for the support of both our PTA and Persimmon Homes in helping us get closer to making this possible.”

Neil Follows, managing director for Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “We hope the new playground will be enjoyed by generations of children to come.”

Community groups, charities and good causes across the county have benefited thanks to the donations from Persimmon Homes. Organisations can apply for funding by completing a simple online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
