Mansfield Museum hosts a stand-up comedy gig about reinventing yourself – and hamsters – as part of its Women’s Season to celebrate International Women’s Day and coincide with the launch of an Art Power exhibition.
Charlotte Cropper, who will be appearing on Saturday, 2nd March, said she was a buck-toothed good girl who didn’t know the meaning of no – a bully’s dream. When her braces came off, she left her roots for Salford and reinvented herself into a Good Girl Gone Bad.
That plan did not end well. Fast forward post-pandemic and the rest, as they say, is history, with Charlotte having forged a successful career ‘up North’ that includes acting, producing, and presenting, as well as her increasingly popular comedy routines.
Recently described as “bouncy and friendly… makes you feel like her bestie when you’re in the audience with her” by Blizzard Comedy, Charlotte said: “I was born and raised in Mansfield, but in 2018 swapped sexy fox Robin Hood for less-sexy bees and moved to Manchester. It was in the back alleys of the Northern Quarter that I discovered the vibrant world of stand-up and became a total nerd for all things comedy.”
“If you had to grow up a bit too fast, felt pressure to be well-behaved or still start to cry when someone tells you off even though you’re not three years old anymore then this is the show for you!”
Charlotte is a prolific alum of the University of Salford. recipient of The Dean’s Award at the Create Awards 2021, and performed as part of the SalFUNNI 2019 Edinburgh Fringe project and returned last August as the producer of the 2022 cohort.
Kevin Tennant, creative producer for Cultural Services at Mansfield District Council, said: “Celebrating success is an integral part of what we do here at Mansfield Museum and Mansfield Palace Theatre, so to welcome back homegrown talent to perform on our stage is always a pleasure. We are so grateful that Charlotte has agreed to be part of our Women’s Season scheduling and will be announcing other exciting projects as part of this soon, for everyone in our communities to visit or get involved with.”
