Sherwood Forest based holiday company Forest Holidays have chosen Portland College as their 2015 charity of the year. This exciting partnership means that both companies will be working together to raise money and awareness of Portland’s new Inclusive Sports Academy appeal.
Forest Holidays’ staff will be fundraising for Portland’s appeal and they will also be giving Portland’s learners various work experience opportunities on their site. They have already very kindly provided us with an auction prize of a weekend away in one of their luxurious cabins which was auctioned off at the facility launch Black Tie Ball back in September.
Amby Tatla, General Manager at the Sherwood Forest cabins said: “We are thrilled to be working with Portland College. The College is such a vibrant place for people with disabilities and the perfect environment for them to live and learn in. It is very important to Forest Holidays that we work closely with our local community. Here at Sherwood Forest we have chosen Portland College as our local charity of the year. We are looking forward to working closely with the College and its students.”
The new £2.0million inclusive sports academy will be designed to enable disabled students to access top-class facilities for training, competition and education. The College also aims to engage with the local community by linking with local disability clubs, sports clubs and offering access for hiring the facilities outside of College hours.
Andrea Hudson, Fundraiser at Portland College said; “We are working hard to secure funding for the new facility but I would also urge other companies such as Forest Holidays as well as the community and fundraising groups to come out in force in the coming months to back the campaign. We are really pleased to have Forest Holidays already on board and are excited to build on this relationship.”
