A team of Mansfield fundraisers have smashed their charity target.
Soroptimist International Mansfield made more than 160 sundresses for girls in Sierra Leone, surpassing their target of 40, as part of a project that aims to make girls less likely to be targets of trafficking.
The initiative started in November as a winter project for members with a sewing machine.
Social media appeals by member Pam Chadwick gained offers of fabrics and sewers.
To show its appreciation to the fundraisers — Julia, Camilla and Helen, and Soroptimists Pam and Rita — two members invited them to afternoon tea and displayed as many of the garments as they could on a washing line in the garden.
Team Tots and Bracton Interiors donated fabric for the project, which was held in partnership with Dress A Girl Around The World, a charity started in the USA.
The dresses were transported to Kent for shipping to Africa after a radio listener heard an appeal on Mansfield 103.2.
Soroptimists will be talking about their project to a local Brownies group and a branch of the Mothers Union.
