A Mansfield charity received a £1,500 donation from David Wilson Homes to support its services for women and families who have been affected by domestic abuse.

NIDAS (Nottinghamshire Independent Domestic Abuse Services) helps women and families who have been affected by many different types of domestic abuse.

It provides support to those affected to stay safe, grow their self-esteem, and go on to build happy and healthy relationships.

The Community Fund donation of £1,500 from David Wilson Homes will helps NIDAS to continue to offer tailored sessions to children and young people.

Sarah Dagley, of NIDAS, said: “As a charity we rely very much on the support of funders and donations to ensure that we sustain vital services for those affected by domestic abuse.

“It’s also extremely important to us that businesses such as David Wilson Homes recognise the importance of the work we do.

“The donation will enable us to improve resources to work with children and young people. It will ensure that we offer a person-centred approach and meet the needs of those we support.”

The developer’s donation was made as part of the Barratt Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Rachael Harrison, sales director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to support NIDAS in its mission to provide support to vulnerable families who have been the victims of domestic abuse.

“At David Wilson Homes, we believe in building more than just houses; we believe in building stronger communities. Through our donation, we hope to make a positive difference in the lives of deserving beneficiaries and contribute to the welfare of our local community.”
