Have your say on how Ashfield could look in the future

Posted onPosted on 23rd Oct

Ashfield residents are being asked to imagine what they would like the area to look like in the future.

Imagine Ashfield has been launched by Build Back Better – Ashfield/Mansfield, a new community group that has been set up.

It said: “Covid has turned the world and our community upside down. Now could be a moment to invest in the things that really matter in Ashfield, that create a healthier future for everybody.

“Our voices are important. That’s why we’re launching Imagine Ashfield. We want to imagine what a better future could look like here.”

A giant rainbow mural has been chalked across the front of Create Studio, Outram Street, as a symbol of hope for the future.

The studio helped to produce a short animation hand-drawn film, called Imagine Ashfield, that can be viewed on the Build Back Better – Ashfield’s Facebook page.

Now residents are being urged to have their say.

The group said: “What could our town centre look like in the future?

“We’d like your help imagining what our high streets and community could look like in the future. What shops would you like to see? Less pollution from cars? More nature? Places to play, or sit and chat?”

People can colour-in free sheets that have been distributed across Kirkby and Sutton. Pictures should be submitted by 31st October and there is a chance to win a children’s electric scooter.

The sheets to colour in can be picked up at:
– Create Studio (Outram Street)
– Kirkby Heritage Centre
– Charity shops in Sutton and Kirkby
