Hat-trick of success for hospice at OSCARS

Posted onPosted on 11th Dec

There was triple success for the John Eastwood Hospice at the OSCARS — the Nottinghamshire Healthcare OSCARS.
The Outstanding Service Contribution and Recognition Scheme (OSCARS) celebrates the work of staff and volunteers every year.

The awards, rearranged after the original celebration was cancelled in March, were held virtually.

There was also success for King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton, after the Clinical Psychology Cancer Service based there won the Quality Improvement Award.

It was praised for embracing new technologies to support patients affected by cancer.

Dr David Miodrag (above), from the hospice, won the Unsung Hero Award – Clinical Setting.

His nominator praised his compassion and support, saying: “He gives peace of mind to patients and relatives and will always provide the best treatment.”

The hospice also scooped the Team of the Year Award – Clinical Setting (top), with one nominator saying: “They make sure patients live the best life they can for whatever time they have left.”

To complete the hospice’s success, it won the Team of the Year – Non Clinical Award (below).
Nottinghamshire Healthcare said: “This dedicated team go above and beyond to help create precious memories for patients at the end of their life and their families.

“It was fantastic to come together and celebrate some of the incredible achievements of our staff and volunteers in 2019.

“Well done to everyone who was nominated and congratulations to all the winners.”

The hospice said: “Congratulations to everyone nominated for an OSCARS award and huge thanks to the award’s sponsors.”
