Children at Mapplewells Primary and Nursery School, Sutton, handed over goods to a foodbank as part of their harvest celebrations.
The children’s efforts for Let’s All Eat were boosted by a donation from Mitchells of Mansfield.
The donations were collected by Simon Martin and Liz Barratt, of Let’s All Eat, a not-for-profit organisation aimed at reducing food waste.
Pupils attended a harvest festival assembly with the Rev Peter Taylor, of St John’s Methodist Church, Sutton. They explored where food comes from and considered the importance of foodbanks in supporting the community.
Headteacher Andrew Whittle said: “We are so grateful to Vaughan Pilmore and Mitchells of Mansfield, the Rev Taylor, and Simon and Liz for helping us make our harvest festival collection so meaningful.
“As ever, our families were incredibly generous, and our children enjoyed learning about why it is so important that we support those who face food poverty in our community.
“A huge thank you to our Mapplewells school community for donating so many goods.”
