Happy ending in care home’s search for Ninja pasta

Posted onPosted on 13th Jul

A learning disabilities care home pulled out all the stops to help a resident track down his favourite food.

Warren Bailey enjoys eating Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pasta shapes every week, but the coronavirus pandemic meant the team at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Corner House ran out despite stocking up in preparation for the lockdown.

When Jo Hardwick, local service manager, was unable to find any in local shops she contacted the makers, Heinz, to see if it could help.

However, the international company was unable to supply any directly because it was producing a limited range of items during the coronavirus lockdown.

But a kind member of the Heinz customer service team sent 12 tins to Corner House after finding them in her local supermarket.

And thanks to additional support from Sanctuary Supported Living’s marketing team, who put out an appeal on Twitter, and a donation from an anonymous local neighbour, Warren now has enough pasta shapes to last for the next couple of months.

To celebrate, residents and colleagues at Corner House are planning a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-themed party with costumes, pizza and movies.

Jo said: “The pasta shapes are Warren’s favourite food, so we wanted to do everything we could to find them.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped us in the search. Your generosity is appreciated and has made a real difference.”
