Caring Tanisha Lee, a 12-year-old student at Samworth Church Academy, Mansfield, had her hair cut off for a wig charity for children affected by cancer — and raised money too.
Her mum, Terisa, said the donation came after the family watched The C-Word, starring Sheridan Smith, on television.
Terisa said: “The next day Tanisha said she wanted to have her hair cut off to help make a wig for use by a cancer sufferer.
I was taken aback by it, but thought it was a great idea.”
Tanisha said she was nervous, but trusted hairdresser and teacher Mrs Bev Nita to cut her hair.
Tanisha said: “I am doing it because it is so sad for anyone to lose their hair.
“I thought I could help by cutting my hair and raising money too.”
Friends and family sponsored her and Bristol Street Motors, Mansfield, donated £53.
Tanisha raised £313 and the hair will be sent to 360 Hair Donations.
Governor Mrs Nita, who also runs the state-of-the-art hair salon at the academy, said: “It’s amazing and totally selfless.”
