Guides’ new county president

Ravenshead woman Eve Griffith has been appointed county president of Girlguiding Nottinghamshire.
She succeeds Anne Allery, who retired after seven years in the post.

Eve joined Girlguiding Nottinghamshire in 1985 as an adult helper at her daughter’s unit, 1st Larch Farm Guides.

She qualified as a Guide leader in 1987 and has been district commissioner for both Ravenshead and Newstead Division, as well as assistant county commissioner.

For the past ten years, Eve has volunteered in the Guide shop at county headquarters in Carlton.

She was the DBS Verifier for the county until 2014 and also registrations secretary.

“I feel very honoured to have been invited to become county president, but am somewhat daunted when I think of the fantastic job done by my predecessors,” Eve said.

Girlguiding Nottinghamshire has a membership totalling around 9,000 girls and young women across the county, including Rainbows (aged 5-7), Brownies (7-10), Guides (10-14), Rangers, Senior Section and Young Leaders (14-25). Volunteers are always welcome, call county headquarters on 0115 9877220 or visit www.girlguidingnottinghamshire.org.uk
