Guess the number of squares in this knitted and crocheted Christmas tree

Posted onPosted on 3rd Nov

A Christmas knitting and crocheting project to create a special Christmas tree has gone on display in Edwinstowe.

Ursula Urbansdotter, who runs the Woolshop and Knitting studio (Unit 12) in the Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre, Edwinstowe, called her initiative the Granny Square Christmas Tree Project “as a homage to our beloved grannies who had the patience to teach us knitting and crocheting.”

Ursula and her team of volunteer knitters have been working on the project weekly over the summer after she appealed for help.

The Granny Square Tree can be seen in the courtyard of Sherwood Art and Craft Centre and a competition is under way for the next two weeks to guess how many squares were used.

The proceeds will go towards the Alzheimer’s Society and the tree can be seen at Woolshop and Knitting studio (Unit 12) in the Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre, Edwinstowe.
