Groups can bid for funds in Ashfield

Posted onPosted on 13th Sep

Small community groups delivering projects in Ashfield can apply for new funding.

The Ashfield Community Fund is offering grants from £500 up to £1,000.

A total of £20,000 was awarded to community groups across the district last year as part of the Ashfield Community Fund.

An additional £100,000 has been distributed to 45 groups and organisations by the council to help support residents in need during the pandemic.

This includes grants to local food banks and providing a buddy service to help vulnerable residents with shopping and medication delivery as well as offering advice to those suffering financially due to Covid-19.

In partnership with Nottinghamshire Community Foundation, Ashfield District Council is now offering a further £10,000 of community grants and wants to hear from eligible groups.

The council said it is committed to supporting the voluntary sector and Coun Rachel Madden, cabinet member for leisure, health and wellbeing is looking forward to supporting even more projects in the community.

“The work these groups do for our community is vital,” she said.

“I don’t know where we would be without them. The last year and a half has been tough so we’re delighted to be helping as many groups as we can.

“The Ashfield Community Fund is a great chance for groups to get the funding they so desperately need for projects that will benefit our communities.”
