The Four Seasons Shopping Centre in Mansfield has been recognised for its environmental initiatives.
The centre has won th Environmental Best Practice award at the International Green Apple Awards.
It will receive a trophy at a presentation ceremony in the Houses of Parliament, London in November.
Its entry focused on recycling initiatives, practices and procedures. General waste has been reduced by a 26.8% thanks to the success of an onsite recycling programme and annual gas consumption has decreased by nearly 40% since 2009.
The centre hosted environmental workshops for more than 11,000 children and annual electrical consumption has decreased by nearly 34% over the past six years.
Rebekah O’Neill, centre manager, said: “We are thrilled to have received this award and pleased that our continuous efforts and commitment to reducing our impact on the environment has been recognised.
“Everyone who works at the Four Seasons has helped contribute to this.”
