The Samworth Church Academy in Mansfield has been accepted as a global member of Round Square — the first state school in Europe to join the worldwide network of 160 schools in 40 countries.
The schools, from five continents, have a shared belief in their approach to education, based on IDEALS — internationalism, democracy, environmentalism, adventure, leadership and service — which were drawn from the theories of education philosopher Kurt Hahn.
The network ensures that students have every opportunity to achieve beyond their perceived limits and focuses on how learning takes place.
It aims to inspire and says that learning is most effective when it is practical, cross-cultural and collaborative.
Mrs Angela Owen, the academy’s Round Square representative, said: “We are looking forward to attending the Round Square international conference in Europe in October, at which we will be formally welcomed and presented with the Round Square flag and membership certificate.”
